[O]n Sun May 22nd, a team from Penrith Canoe Club made up of A team, B team & novice team canoe polo players, travelled to Lancaster University for a friendly Cumbria Canoe Polo Tournament.

Having never played together as a team, they struggled in the first match against Red Rose, who play in the league with Penrith’s A team.

Definitely still finding their feet in the first half, they conceded 3 goals. However, they got themselves organised and pulled one back in the second half finishing 4-1 down.

The second match allowed them to get themselves organised against Duddon CC from Barrow In Furness, and build their confidence. Penrith won 5-2.

Another hard match followed against Lakeland CC from Kendal, which they lost 3-1, but fought hard and were starting to play as a team. They then beat Lancaster University A team 4-1 and finished the night with a 3-2 win over Lancaster University B team, ending the tournament in 3rd place out of 6.
