[K]irkby Stephen welcomes York Theatre Royal’s stage production of The Railway Children to the big screen this Christmas!
This family favourite film follows the story of Bobbie, Phyllis and Peter, three sheltered siblings who suffer a huge upheaval when their father is falsely imprisoned. The children and their mother, now penniless, are forced to move from London to rural Yorkshire into a house next to a railway line.
Filmed at the National Railway Museum in York, and featuring the train from the original much-loved film, this Olivier Award-winning production has been imaginatively adapted and beautifully directed for the cinema screen.
The screening will use an innovative method of screening from CineGi, the digital film distribution service. CineGi provides a method of showing High Definition digital productions offline without the need for fast internet capability at the venue. This will be the first use of this technology in Kirkby Stephen.
Presented by Kirkby Stephen Community Arts, with support from Eden Arts
