[B]usiness students at Lakes College West Cumbria are celebrating their recent highly successful events, raising a fantastic total of almost £600 for charity.
The students organised and hosted two separate events, as part of their business course earlier this month.
The first was a Royal Wedding themed afternoon in which they managed to raise £275.23 for Hospice at Home West Cumbria, a charity which provides high quality, palliative and end of life care to people living in West Cumbria.
Paige Heron, who is a fundraiser for Hospice at Home stated “The Lakes College students did a fantastic job in organising the Afternoon Tea in aid of Hospice at Home West Cumbria; the event was a great way to kick start the Royal Wedding celebrations. We greatly appreciate all support we receive from community groups as it enables us to continue to provide high quality care to patients, carers and their families across West Cumbria.”
The second event was a ‘Catwalk for Cancer’ fashion show where the Lakes College business students teamed up with the college’s hair and beauty department to raise £322 for Cancer Research UK.
The ‘Catwalk for Cancer’ had a Royal Wedding theme and featured clothing from The Collection in Workington.
Alice Turner, joint owner of The Collection in Workington spoke about the success of the event “When I was asked to help with the event I immediately offered to participate as my mum is currently battling cancer. It was a pleasure to take part and see both the students and models create such an enjoyable and fun fashion show. I think they did exceedingly well on the planning and organisation as I know how difficult such an event can be to plan. I think it was great success and I’m thrilled with how much we raised for the charity”.
Well done to all involved, raising money for two fantastic causes.
