[A]t 10:00am on Saturday 23rd June, Crosby Ravensorth Church of England Aided primary school will be hosting the second “Slack Randy Mountain Bike Challenge”.
This is essentially an off road mountain bike ride taking in some of the most spectacular scenery and nature reserves and other sites of special scientific interest (SSSI) around the surrounding fellsides.
With a huge variety of landscapes from limestone pavements, woodland, open fell, meadow, and some faster sections on gravel track. There is a twenty five and forty kilometre route both starting and finishing at the primary school. Local landowners have yet again proved to be extremely helpful and accommodating.
Several local businesses have again helped to support the event by donating great prizes, discounted and free food. All prizes will be given out in a lottery fashion. The event is hoping to raise much needed funds for the local school.
On the same evening there will also be a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK held at the village hall from 8pm. This is a “Bond / Vegas” style casino night. They will be casino tables, live DJ, a welcome drink, nibbles and raffle. Last year’s event was a great way for anyone who had taken part in the day’s earlier charity event to let their hair down and have another good time, raising money for another great cause at the same time.
