[L]IVE music and lots of entertainment for all the family will be on the menu as Carlisle Mencap stages one of its flagship fundraising events later this month in this its 50th anniversary year.
Top local band the Blue Flames will be the star attraction at the Summer Family Fun event taking place at Harraby Community Campus in Carlisle on Sunday, August 19 between 1pm and 4.30pm.
The full line-up of attractions has yet to be finalised but there will be children’s entertainment, tombolas, stalls, a keep fit display, refreshments, and visits from the Cumbria Fire Service and Cumbria Constabulary. The event is being financially supported by Story Homes, and admission is £2 per person, with under 12s getting in free.
Carlisle Mencap’s chief executive officer Sheila Gregory said: “This is a momentous year for Carlisle Mencap and we hope lots of families will get themselves along to the Summer Family Fun event to have a good time and dance along too to the fabulous Blue Flames, while also helping to raise vital funds for the valuable work that we do with people with learning disabilities and their families. And we are delighted with Story Homes’ kind monetary donation to help with costs.
Phil Taylor, events and fundraising officer, added: “The Harraby Community Campus is an excellent facility and we are delighted it is hosting our event.”
Anyone interested in being represented at the event or providing entertainment services should contact Phil at [email protected] or call 01228 674393.
