A MAN accused of both assaulting and later intimidating a woman in Penrith has told a jury he has done nothing wrong.
Michal Pawel Swidzinski, 32, is on trial at Carlisle Crown Court, and has pleaded not guilty to three charges.
One alleges that he assaulted Rebecca Greenhow in Penrith town centre in the early hours of March 18 by “grabbing” and “shaking” her. Swidzinski is also alleged to have perverted the course of justice, on June 27, during an alleged conversation; and is further alleged to have intimidated her on September 14.
Mrs Greenhow has alleged to a jury that Swidzinski, of Victoria Road, Penrith, “threatened to blow up my house if I attended court” in connection with the earlier alleged assault.
But Swidzinski denies all three allegations. Giving evidence in court today (WED), he said: “I disagree with the alleged allegations made by Rebecca.”
Swidzinski claimed she had assaulted him when the pair came together in the town’s Devonshire Street in March. “I have never touched her in my life,” he told jurors.
“Right now, this situation so far, I am the victim.”
The trial continues.
