At 5:03pm yesterday, Saturday 20th April, one fire engine from Workington was mobilised to reports of a fire in the open near Siddick Road, Workington.
On arrival crews found approximately 400 square metres of grass and gorse bushes well alight.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spoeksman said: “Crews used one Hose reel jet and beaters to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for approximately sixty minutes.”
At 10:42pm yesterday one fire engine from Whitehaven was mobilised to reports of a fire in the open at Haigue Pit, Whitehaven.
On arrival crews found approximately 100 square metres of grass and gorse well alight.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for approximately ninety minutes.”
