Farm Walk and Talk – Sunday 9th June, Town Head Farm, Grasmere, LA22 9RS
The Farmer Network, along with The Herdwick Sheep Breeders’ Association, invite members of the public to a free open farm event at Town Head farm, Grasmere on Sunday 9th June 2019.
The event, hosted by Will & Emma Benson, will give visitors the chance to meet the shepherds and the sheep that have shaped the Lake District’s World Heritage landscape over generations.
There will be talks explaining the heritage of the Herdwick sheep breeds, along with demonstrations of sheep dog handling, shearing and dry stone walling.
Will Rawling of The Farmer Network said “This is a great opportunity to have a guided tour of a traditional Lake District hill farm and learn about the local Herdwick sheep and the stunning landscapes in which they live.”
There will be a number of craft demonstrations on the day, including spinning and weaving with sheep wool. Pulled lamb rolls, using lamb bred on the farm, will be available to buy. A great day out for all the family.
The event will take place from 11am to 3.00pm and is free of charge but please book to help us manage numbers. All welcome but dogs on leads please and come dressed appropriately for walking and for the weather conditions on the day.
