To celebrate the inaugural flights to Carlisle Lake District Airport today, two luxury Cumbrian brands The Halston and Chapman Bag announce a collaboration to create a special souvenir to welcome passengers arriving on the first inbound flights from Southend-on-Sea, Dublin and Belfast.
To mark this historic moment in time a limited edition Passport Holder handcrafted in leather and featuring a unique number from 1-70 with elegant branding, will be given to a select number of passengers on Thursday’s flights. They offer the lucky recipients the chance to own a piece of history and to enjoy discounts at both companies. For visitors curious to find out more about where the holders were made, they can go behind the scenes on a tour of the Chapman Bags factory in Carlisle, where leather goods are made using traditional artisan skills.
Not only does this partnership between brands celebrate greater connectivity for the region, it demonstrates the world-class quality of businesses in the area that are boosting the local economy by investing in skills and creating desirable products that attract both domestic and international customers. Last year, more than 9 million people visited Carlisle contributing £552 million to the local economy and supporting 6,749 full time equivalent jobs. With Luxury Goods currently one of Britain’s fastest growing sectors, providing 8% of total exports, worth £32 billion to the UK domestic economy, it is timely to put a focus on the quality British products being made in the region.
The new flights will connect Carlisle and the Lake District, with the South East of England (London Southend Airport), Northern Ireland (Belfast City Airport) and the Republic of Ireland (Dublin Airport) with connections on to USA and Europe and further afield, providing an appealing new way to travel to the North of England for a range of travellers.
There will also be a chance for a limited number of passengers on inbound flights to Carlisle across the coming weeks to receive one of these unique Passport Holders as part of a special flight themed accommodation package created by The Halston, which includes 10% discount and a cocktail or mocktail for customers on arrival, customers can use the code AIRPORT19 until the end of August when booking.
Dominique Harrison, Co-Director The Halston says, “The Halston is ideally positioned to cater for people visiting for different reasons, whether it’s business or pleasure, families, groups or individuals. The new passenger flights open-up new routes into the city creating opportunities for visitors to discover the rich heritage, culture and food offer we have in Carlisle.”
Daniel Chamier CEO of Chapman Bags says, “We are one of the very few British luxury leather goods brands with production entirely in England, which all takes place in our Carlisle factory. The development of Carlisle airport is a welcome and major boost to the local economy and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our factory shop.”
