L-R: Andrew Gordon – Cumberland Building Society, Sophia Newton – Flock Events & PR, Janett Walker – Flock Events & PR, Simon Glencross – NXT Recruitment, Emma Lindsay – NXT Recruitment, John Haley – Edwin Thompson and Grant Seaton – Cumberland Building Society and LA23NET Chair

The Cumberland Building Society, who return for a second year as main sponsor of the unconventional networking event LA23NET, will be joined by two supporting sponsors this autumn. NXT Recruitment and Edwin Thompson will become official sponsors from the start of the new LA23NET season which runs from September 2019 to June 2020.

Grant Seaton who will continue as Chair of LA23NET said: “As LA23NET continues to grow and evolve it is the right time to introduce additional support for the network. Both NXT Recruitment and Edwin Thompson are well respected and knowledgeable Cumbrian businesses and I have no doubt they will enhance the network and benefit from being associated with it. Welcome to the LA23NET team!”

The 2018-2019 season welcomed a variety of speakers, venues and topics including; Jonathan Warburton, networking on a train, Carlisle Airport, Shed 1 Gin and the groundbreaking Alternative Futures event in June. The new season shows no signs of slowing either and kicks off in September with a private after-hours tour of Windermere Jetty with talk from Liz Moss and lakeside food and drink.

Simon Glencross Director of NXT Recruitment said: “NXT have attended LA23NET for the past year and we are delighted to start the next season in our new role as sponsor. Cumbria is a wonderful place but undeniably faces its own unique challenges, a key one being attracting and retaining talented employees. LA23NET is fresh, challenges the norms and we think makes Cumbria a more attractive place to be. It is relevant to emerging talent, successful business owners and executive levels alike. As a thriving recruitment business we want to support initiatives like LA23NET and we are very excited about its future.”

John Haley Partner at Edwin Thompson added: “It’s true that Cumbria is a fantastic place to live and do business but getting people together from across such a geographically dispersed county can be tricky. LA23NET does a wonderful job of bringing the county together and as Edwin Thompson operate countywide it was a natural fit for us to support LA23NET.”

The unconventional events and PR company Flock has run LA23NET for the last three years. From only six attendees the network itself now includes over six hundred decision making and influential businesspeople from across Cumbria and beyond, with anywhere between sixty and over two hundred attending an event at any one time.
