Local South Lakeland Solicitors Thomson Hayton Winkley have contributed £1,000 to help Growing Well exceed their crowd funding target of £25,000 which after much interest was extended to £35,000.
Growing Well, the Kendal-based mental health charity and organic fruit and vegetable enterprise provides a holistic approach to mental health recovery through activity, training and support at its six-acre organic fruit and veg farm at Low Sizergh.
The charity has recently finished a successful Crowd funding campaign to raise £25,000 and then a further £10,000 to help secure its future and help bridge a £60,000 funding gap this year.
Manager Mary Houston said: “We are so grateful for this generous £1,000 donation to our Crowdfunding from Thomson Hayton Winkley which helped us get over our extended target of £35,000 in the final few days of our campaign.
“The response from the local community, and local businesses which want to support their local community, has been phenomenal, humbling and heartening, and we are looking forward to developing long-term relationships with supporters such as Thomson Hayton Winkley so that their staff and our charity get to know each other.
“It’s great to see the issue of mental health having a higher profile, and beginning to be destigmatised in the workplace.
John Cooke, Director at Thomson Hayton Winkley commented; “We were inspired by an amazing presentation by Growing Well and are keen to work with them going forward to help increase the knowledge and profile of mental health issues within our community and the work place. This is an incredible charity that provides a unique mental health service and we are delighted to be a vocal supporter of them, the work they do and the produce they grow.”
