Each year Allithwaite Bowling Club raises funds for a different charity, and this year they decided to give to the Stroke Ward at Furness General Hospital via Bay Hospitals Charity.
Ellie Butcher, member of Allithwaite Bowling Club, was a patient last year on the Furness General Hospital Stroke Ward. After receiving excellent care on the ward, the Stroke Ward is now very close to Ellie’s heart. She therefore asked the rest of the members of the Bowling Club if the money raised could go to this great cause.
Together with other club members, Ellie held a charity day and collection raising the fantastic amount of £1,050. The club have held a charity day each year for the past 10 years but this event was a particular success, raising over £1,000 for the first time.
Kerry Chapple, Clinical Lead said “This really is a fantastic amount to raise. We are so grateful to Allithwaite Bowling Club to raise such a wonderful amount. We remember Ellie very well as a patient on the ward.”
