A Carlisle man has appeared in court to be sentenced after pleading guilty to two charges of indecent exposure when he appeared before the city’s magistrates court earlier this month.
The offences took place on 19 and 27 of September last year, the court was told how he exposed himself to his neighbours at Scotby Gardens, off Durranhill Road, Harraby, Carlisle.
David Shaun Watson, 50, appeared for sentencing today (TUES).
His neighbours spotted him naked in his garden and believed he was performing a sex act.
A few days later he was seen near his patio doors again naked, when Watson was interviewed by police he said “He had a rash and was scratching it,” the neighbours who witnessed the two-incidents have since moved from the Scotby area.
The court was told the victims (neighbours) informed police previously about his behaviour and he received a warning.
Magistrate were told this a “tragic” case, Watson has mental health issues, he thought the neighbours were looking towards his house and thought “if they are staring at me [Watson] I will give them a show”.
Paul Tweddle for Watson told the court his client has lost his job through this offending, he is an intelligent man and is ashamed of what he has done to his family and the victims, he feels humiliated.
The magistrates imposed a custodial sentence of 12-weeks, but this was suspended 18-months, he has to complete a Probation Rehabilitation Order of 30-days, he also has to sign on the police sex-offenders register and pay court costs of £207.
