A JURY in the trial of a teenager accused of the alleged racial abuse of a man outside a Workington nightspot has been discharged.
Olivia Glasson, 19, denies one charge which alleges racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress.
The charge arises out of an incident outside Padua’s nightclub, Washington Street, at around closing time just after 3am on January 26 last year.
Glasson’s trial began in front of a jury at Carlisle Crown Court earlier this week.
Today (THURS), Recorder Alex Leach discharged the jury of seven women and five men from returning a verdict in the trial for legal reasons after hearing submissions from the respective barristers.
As a result, the case is due to be re-listed on a future date.
In the meantime Glasson, of Garth Road, Workington, was granted conditional bail by Recorder Leach.
