Autoglass®, the UK’s leading vehicle glass repair, replacement and recalibration company, has opened a new centre in Carlisle.
The centre, located at the M6 Moto services in Carlisle, will offer customers windscreen repair and replacements, advanced safety system recalibrations, and replacement wiper blades. Locals are encouraged to visit for expert advice on windscreen damage; a free windscreen chip repair service is also available, subject to a customer’s car insurance policy. The experts can also offer advice on vehicle body damage, supported by sister company Autoglass® BodyRepair.
Becoming the 80th centre for Autoglass® in the UK, the new opening in Carlisle is part of the company’s ongoing expansion strategy aimed at meeting the growing needs of vehicles fitted with advanced safety systems.
Advanced safety features such as autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warnings are increasingly common and play an important role in alerting drivers to potential hazards on the road. However, as these systems are often reliant on cameras and sensors mounted on the windscreen, they need to be accurately recalibrated following a windscreen replacement, as per vehicle manufacturer instructions, to ensure they are detecting upcoming obstacles correctly.
The rapid growth of these technologies, some of which require recalibration in a static, controlled location, has grown dramatically in recent years. According to Euro NCAP data, 10% of UK cars feature some form of windscreen mounted technology and nearly 40% of UK vehicles are set to feature advanced safety features by the end of 2020.
To improve driver safety and minimise accident risk on the road, Autoglass® has been introducing these smaller eye-catching centres, located in convenient locations, to ensure that customer’s safety systems are recalibrated immediately after a windscreen replacement. Due to their success in 2019 which saw the number of recalibrations increase to over 110,000, the company will continue to open new centres throughout 2020. This will ensure all of its customers only have a short drive to one of their centres.
Taxiarchis Konstantopoulos, Managing Director at Autoglass® says: “Despite a dramatic increase in the number of vehicles fitted with advanced safety features on our roads over the past couple of years, awareness of their importance in keeping drivers safe remains low. As the industry leader, Autoglass® is committed to educating drivers about this technology to ensure that they are as safe as possible on the roads. Our latest opening in Carlisle demonstrates our ongoing investment into road safety and we look forward to bringing our excellent service to the local community.”
