Three men have been charged after they were arrested in the early hours of Friday morning (20 March) after being spotted acting suspiciously following a report of a burglary at a property in the Harcourt Street area of Workington.
Police were called by an occupant of the property at about 3.10am reporting that they had woken up to find the offenders in their home. They ran off after being disturbed.
One of the men was found with items matching the description of what was stolen from the property.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Joshua Thwaites, 29, from Whitehaven was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of a controlled drug, he was later charged with possession of a Class A drug.
“Paul McCracken, 37, from Whitehaven was found to have property from the burglary. He was charged and remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 20th April for burglary, Class A and Class C drug offences, and a shoplifting incident at Halfords in Workington on the 9th March. He was also found to be on recall to prison and was wanted for failing to attend.
“Richard Musgrave, 41, from Workington was charged with possession of a bladed article and theft from a motor vehicle linked to a separate incident and was remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on the 20th April.”
