Bosses at a west Cumbria cinema recently closed for good are pressing on with plans for a new site.
It was confirmed earlier this week that Workington’s Plaza Cinemas will not reopen after the site was forced to close due to the pandemic.
The multi-screen cinema, at Dunmail Park, is owned by Graves Ltd and opened at the site 20 years ago.
“We hope the new cinema will be in a town centre location and we have planning consent for that,” said a spokeswoman for Graves Ltd.
“The town deserves a cinema.”
Cumbria Crack understands that it is an “open secret” that the proposed site will be located on the top floor of John Peel House.
Discussions surrounding the site are believed to be ongoing.
