A woman who repeatedly stabbed her partner from behind with a screwdriver has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Carlisle Crown Court heard how 31-year-old Chantelle Parker “lost it” with her boyfriend after she caught him downloading pornography on September 15 last year.
Parker first smashed an electronic tablet before using a screwdriver to stab him repeatedly in the back and shoulder.
She also grabbed his throat and kicked him down the stairs.
The man then went to the home of his mother, who took photographs of puncture injuries and scratches.
He reported the attack several months later when he spoke to police about other matters, but since retracted his statement.
Parker, of Woodhouse Road, Whitehaven, admitted an actual bodily harm assault.
The court heard the woman had mental health issues, was said by her barrister to be “vulnerable” and had suffered a family bereavement in late 2019.
However, she had also been violent towards previous partners, prompting the judge, Recorder Mark Rhind QC, to observe: “It is absolutely clear from everything that I have read about you that you have got a real problem with your temper.”
After hearing mitigation and reading background information, he suspended a nine-month prison sentence for 18 months.
Parker must complete a rehabilitation requirements and a six-month electronically monitored night time curfew.
