Up to £2,500 in funding is available to organisations tackling substance misuse in Cumbria.
Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, is inviting organisations across the county to apply for the funding to support projects to help tackle substance misuse, including prevention initiatives.
The funding is available through the Property Fund which sees the money confiscated from criminals and placed back into local communities to help reduce crime.
The property fund is now open and will close on June 11 at 5pm.
PCC Peter McCall, said: “I am really keen to support projects all across Cumbria that help support those who are battling their substance misuse as well as projects that aim to prevent vulnerable young people either developing an addiction or becoming involved in the distribution of drugs.
“Drugs-related crime is a national issue and I believe that, as a community, we can work together to tackle this issue locally.
“The Property Fund is open to any projects that can cover the following: provide drugs and alcohol education to young people who are vulnerable to becoming dependent on a substance; provide early intervention to those who currently have a dependency on drugs or alcohol and are at risk of offending; provide support to reduce the risk of reoffending due to a substance addiction; and support people with multiple complex needs in addition to alcohol and drug abuse such as those who have experienced childhood trauma, domestic abuse and sexual violence.
“This really is a chance for any organisation and project to get a substantial bit of funding so if you have a project that is suitable please apply. I will consider other projects that could reduce crime in Cumbria – it does not have to focus on drugs and alcohol misuse.
