A Carlisle-based solicitors is expanding its staff as the number of people writing their wills soars.
In the last two years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people looking to write their wills.
Between January and May 2021, Wragg Mark-Bell said it has seen an over 25 per cent increase on its five-month average in 2019 in people accessing their will services.
This follows national trends with reports suggesting that the number of people writing a will during the pandemic has increased dramatically.
Nick Kennon, director of Wragg Mark-Bell, said: “We’ve seen a significant increase in the number of requests for wills following the start of the pandemic, particularly in the last few months.
“With this demand, we have looked to grow our private client team and have recently recruited Laura Currie. This is the first step in our plans to expand the team in the coming months.”
Laura started working for the law firm as a paralegal in the private client team at the beginning of April.
As a paralegal, Laura’s day-to-day role involves working with clients on Lasting Powers of Attorney and drafting wills.
She previously worked as a criminal and a family paralegal in Cumbria and Scotland.
