A Cumbrian apprentice has landed a full-time job after a local firm threw him a last-minute lifeline.

Just a few weeks short of completing his IT infrastructure technician course, Carlisle College apprentice Joe Jobson faced redundancy from his employer due to the impact of COVID-19.

Then Carlisle-based David Allen IT Solutions stepped in to offer him a three-week placement – and were so impressed with his work they offered him a permanent full-time role.

“It’s been a real mix of emotions, but finding out David Allen IT had stepped in was a huge relief,” Joe said.

“I was excited to be joining a company that provides outstanding support with a great reputation throughout Cumbria, and I am so thankful for the opportunity.”

Martin Norris, business development manager at Carlisle College, said: “In what have been unprecedented times, the continued support we have received from David Allen IT Solutions has been invaluable, especially after a such a challenging year for so many employers and apprentices.

“It’s fantastic to be able to celebrate Joe’s achievements and his successful apprenticeship progression into employment.”
