The Millennium Lodge of Good Fellowship in Carlisle has recently donated £,5000 to Alzheimer’s Society.

They raised this amount because worshipful brother Colin Doorbar, who was worshipful master of the lodge at the time, donated a hogshead of 19-year-old malt whisky distilled at the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown.

The tax and bottling charges were paid, and the bottles of cask strength whisky sold to members of the Province of Cumberland and Westmorland by worshipful brothers Ken Archer and Nigel Thomason.

Sue Swire, community fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Cumbria and Lancashire, said:  “Following a difficult year for people with dementia, we are in awe of supporters like Colin and the members of the Millennium Lodge of Good Fellowship whose brilliant fundraising efforts enable us to reach more people through our vital support services, like the Dementia Connect support line.

“Our services have been used five and a half million times since the first lockdown began last March and have been a lifeline to thousands, but there are so many more who urgently need our help.”
