Fifty artists across Cumbria are set to open up their studios later this year to welcome people through their doors.

Eden Valley Artistic Network will hold its free open studios and art trail event from September 4 to September 19.

Simon Whalley, one of the network’s directors, said: “We are blessed with a range of inspiring landscapes in North Cumbria which help make our Open Studios a spectacular event.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to meet individual artists in a diverse range of studios and settings, and gain an insight into what inspires them, and how their work is produced, as well as to buy directly from them.”

EVAN’s Open Studios and Art Trail is a chance not only to buy something original and locally made but, also, to see how and where artists make their work and chat with them about their practice.

The range of art available includes textiles, sculpture, jewellery, photography, glass, paintings, ceramics, prints, and more.

EVAN’s members have continued to produce work throughout the pandemic, many taking the opportunity to experiment with techniques, try different genres, undertake research and/or training, or simply be inspired by nature.

Artists will be demonstrating their techniques and working in their studios.

A brochure and a map of artist and studio locations with opening dates and times will be available soon.
