A Cumbrian businesswoman has reached the finals of a competition celebrating women in the North West.
Alison Magee-Barker, owner of AJ Lake hospitality consultancy and AJ Lakes Training Academy Ltd, has been shortlisted in the training and coaching category in the Enterprise Vision Awards.
Set up in 2017 with 30 years’ experience under her belt, Alison has grown the specialist consultancy from a start-up operation to now working with hospitality and tourism clients across the UK.
She has already won two Enterprise Vision Awards – Professional Services Award in 2018 and the Training and Coaching Award in 2019.
Alison said: “It is an honour to take my place in the finals alongside esteemed businesswomen in such a hotly contested category.
“For me personally, training and coaching has never been so important. Operating in hospitality in such unprecedented times when the sector has been hit the hardest, I have witnessed first hand an industry literally on its knees and needing all the support it can get.
“The past 12 months has been overwhelming but I am grateful that businesses did reach out and take the training, support and advice I was able to offer, ensuring that they do emerge from this pandemic still trading and with a clear vision for the future.
“As a double winner of an EVA award already it would be fantastic to make it a treble!”
Each finalist will now present and face a panel of judges before the winners will be announced on Friday, September 24, at a ceremony at Blackpool Winter Gardens.
