
A driver has been arrested after a crash on the A590 which saw two teenagers airlifted to hospital.
Emergency services were called at about 8.45am to a collision involving an HGV and a Nissan Duke near Levens.
The driver of the Nissan, a 44-year-old man, was taken to Preston Royal Hospital with serious injuries.
A 40-year-old female passenger was also taken to the Preston Royal Hospital with serious injuries.
A 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy were both airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The 15-year-old was taken to Alder Hey Hospital and the 13-year-old to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
The A590 is closed in both directions between the Meathop roundabout and Levens Hall. Motorists are facing long delays and congestion is being reported to Greenodd.
The driver of the HGV, a 28-year-old man from Lancaster, was uninjured. He was arrested in connection with the collision.
