Red fans’ fun bus broken into while at away match

A sleep-over in Blackpool for Workington Reds fans eventually took the shine off the team’s fine win at Colne.

Thirty-two supporters had organised a night out in the seaside resort, and stayed at a bed and breakfast hotel.

But when the bus driver checked their coach in the morning he found it had broken into and the satnav stolen.

The supporters – known around the club as the Fun Bus Crew – also had their special flags stolen from the coach.

They had set off for Blackpool in high spirits after the win and the fact that the Reds players had a whip round and provided £200 for the occasion put an extra spring in their steps.

Unreal by the @WorkingtonAFC lads to send us £200 to get some drinks in Blackpool!

What a group of lads, so much respect and love????????????⚪️ pic.twitter.com/3OZgt54PFb

When word got back to Reds chairman Dave Bowden over the break-in he was quick to respond.

“The directors will replace the flags and add an extra one. We can’t see the supporters flagless,” he said.
