Injury woes for Carlisle as front row issues continue

Carlisle will not be able to return to North One West action at Altrincham Kersal on Saturday after being unable to field a front-row last week.

Their game with Glossop was cancelled and Carlisle were penalised five points, while the returned scheduled for Warwick Road later in the season will be played at Glossop.

The same will happen again with this second postponement regards the five point deduction but as they have already played at Carlisle it’s possible the trip to Altrincham could be rescheduled for later.

Carlisle’s injury issues have been well documented this season, contributing to their poor start, but last week they had up to 10 front row players injured or unavailable through work commitments and things haven’t got any better.

Club official Bill Glendinning said: “Injuries are horrendous at the moment with still not enough front row players to travel. Going to be in negative equity shortly. Hoping for something from Father Christmas to help us out.

“Still waiting for official word but it will be a five-point deduction for non-fulfilment. Don’t know if it will be rescheduled or not in these circumstances.”

Carlisle will certainly appreciate the break for Christmas and the New Year with their next scheduled League game not due until January 8.
