A man accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and illegally possessing a crowbar in a residential area of Carlisle is to stand trial next year.
Ian Waugh, 45, faces charges which arise out of incidents which are alleged to have occurred in the Raffles area of the city on November 17 this year.
One charge alleges that Waugh caused Ian Robertson grievous bodily harm with intent to do so.
A second charge alleges that without lawful authority or reasonable excuse he had with him in a public place — Raffles Avenue — a crowbar.
When Waugh appeared at Carlisle Crown Court, he pleaded not guilty to both allegations.
Waugh is now due to face trial before a jury, and a timetable for the progression of the case was outlined by the prosecution.
This hearing is due to start in the week of April 25 2022, and, it is estimated, will last around three days.
In the meantime, Waugh was granted bail by Judge Nicholas Barker.
The conditions of his bail are that he must not contact the complainant in the case; must not enter Carlisle; and must live and sleep at Sherwood Park in Lockerbie.
