Carlisle United have rearranged a postponed game as other fixtures fall victim of the increase in COVID cases.
Soon after Wednesday’s trip to Salford was called off, United have announced a new date for the home game with Bradford City which was postponed on December 18.
The Bantams will visit Brunton Park on Saturday January 8 January (kick off 3pm) following consultation between the clubs and the EFL.
Tickets purchased for the original fixture are valid for this game.
United fans unable to attend, and require a refund, are being asked to contact the club’s ticket office from 10am on 30 December.
Bradford fans unable to attend, and require a refund, should contact the City ticket office (point of sale) for a refund.
As for tomorrow’s scheduled trip to Salford, United informed the EFL that the club would be unable to fulfil the fixture at the Peninsula Stadium due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases in the squad.
A United statement said: “The club has worked hard to ensure that it would be able to get this game played. However, taking into account the injuries and positive COVID-19 cases with the squad, we do not have a sufficient number of players available in order to fulfil the fixture.
“In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL will now review the circumstances surrounding the postponement.
“In addition, it will assist affected clubs throughout this challenging period to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff, while ensuring their obligations to the EFL regulations are maintained.
“A rearranged date for the fixtures will be confirmed in due course.”
United say their ticket office will be open at 10am on Thursday morning for enquiries about ticket options for this fixture, including refunds.
