Carlisle United rescued a point at Brunton Park with an added-time equaliser from Lewis Alessandra.
Both sides had been looking to add a fourth straight win to their recent form figures so the two of them were denied that stat.
But Crawley will feel the more aggrieved as they missed a penalty and also hit the bar, while home keeper Mark Howard made a couple of outstanding saves.
Carlisle had a let-off as early as the ninth minute when Crawley hit the woodwork. James Tilley was given the opportunity to try his luck from distance and a cracking effort came back off the post before being cleared.
Carlisle’s first serious threat came from Jordan Gibson when Callum Guy invited him to shoot on the run from a short corner but the man who had brought Brunton Park to its feet a week ago watched his well struck effort climb too high.
After a passage of play which was both scrappy and uninspiring the game was brought to life by the opening goal on 25 minutes.
Morgan Feeney lost control on the edge of the area and Ashley Nadesan was in smartly to gain possession and drill the ball past Howard.
United at last threatened again after the set-back and good work between Gibson and Jon Mellish ended with Brennan Dickenson dragging a shot wide.
Mellish was in the thick of it again, this time driving forward from deep before having a dig but good defensive cover provided the block before Morris was needed.
It needed a brilliant save from Howard to prevent Nadesan from doubling his own, and his side’s, tally. He was on the end of a cross from Tom Nichols and a really well-struck shot was bang on target until Howard produced an athletic dive to turn it onto the post.
Nadesan should have done better when he was on the end of a Tilley cross but from eight yards headed well over.
Tyrese Omotoye, the shining light from the previous week, had not really repeated his heroics but his pace was still in evident when it created a chance for him. He raced clear but with Glenn Morris off his line he hesitated and the opportunity was lost.
Manager Keith Millen had clearly said he wanted more from his players as they made a bright, energetic start to the second-half.
Dickenson hit a powerful shot from almost 30 yards which Morris could do nothing about but fortunately foe the Crawley keeper it skied behind off the top of the bar.
Sam Matthews toe-poked an effort into the side netting from a tight angle and then lifted a shot from a corner over the bar as Crawley tried to regain the initiative.
Dickenson tested Morris when play swept to the other end and a free kick bounced around in the Crawley box before the frantic scramble saw Omotoye go down but penalty appeals fell on deaf ears.
A penalty was, however, given at the other end on 73 minutes after Jack Armer clipped the heels of Tilley in the box.
Nadesan, who’d had a mixed afternoon, could have wrapped up the points for his side but he hammered the spot kick high, wide and not very handsome.
Substitute Alessandra should have levelled just before the end of 90 minutes. A well-timed run got him on the end of a good through ball from Dickenson left him with Morris to beat, but the Crawley custodian seemed to have won the game with a fine block.
Then in the second minute of time added, Alessandra made amends for his miss. Morris had turned a strong shot from Dickenson behind and from the corner he glanced a header past the keeper.
