
Copeland is the 10th cheapest place to live in the UK, according to the latest figures.
Office for National Statistics data, compiled by plumbing and heating supplier PlumbNation, reveals that the average house price in the district is £139,946 with a median floor space (sq m) of 96, meaning a cost of £1,458 per sq metre.
The 10 cheapest areas are as follows:
- Blaenau Gwent – £121,739 – 96 – £1,268
- Burnley – £112,394 – 88 – £1,277
- Hyndburn – £122,510 – 95 – £1,290
- Pendle – £118,671 – 91 – £1,304
- County Durham – £124,667 – 94 – £1,326
- Blackpool – £127,286 – 90 – £1,414
- North East Lincolnshire – £139,504 – 97 – £1,438
- Merthyr Tydfil – £138,102 – 96 – £1,439
- Blackburn with Darwen – £135,650 – 94 – £1,443
- Copeland – £139,946 – 96 – £1,458
The first figure is the average house price, the second is the median floor space of houses (sq m) and the last is the price per sq m.
The average property price across the nation is £271,368, with an average cost of £2,936 per square metre.
All of the UK’s most expensive areas are located within London boroughs – with Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and the City of London in the top three.
