People looking for a challenge in the great Cumbrian outdoors can now sign-up for a new action-packed event and support their local hospice in the process.
On May 21, Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s children’s hospice, will be hosting their Bikes, Boats and Boots event with Ullswater and Helvellyn providing a stunning and scenic backdrop to the challenge.
During a special day of fundraising, which is being run with the support of The Adventure Element, those who sign-up will cycle 30 miles, canoe around two miles and hike 11km among the northernmost reaches of the Lake District.
Bikes Boats Boots is not made for elite athletes, and no prior canoeing experience is required so anyone can take part, although the fitter participants are the more fun they will have taking in the beautiful surroundings.
Throughout the day, participants will work as a team of four fundraisers so team entries are encouraged, or if you want to sign-up individually, as a pair or a three, event organisers will partner people up for the day.
Eleanor Viney, Fundraising Manager at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, said: “Bikes Boats Boots promises to be a great event which will not only provide people with the opportunity to challenge themselves but also help provide vital support for local adults and children with life-limiting illnesses.
“Everyone who signs up or sponsors someone taking part will be playing a really important part in helping us raise the more than £3 million we need each year to continue offering our expert and dedicated care.”
