Kendal Town have signed Australian forward Mason Cross ahead of their trip to Kidsgrove Athletic.
The 18-year-old Cross has a British passport through his Welsh father and has played at a good standard in Australia for Gold Coast Knights and Brisbane Roar.
He has been in Britain for a few weeks and is being given the chance to show his potential in the NPL West.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “He looks a promising player and will be in the squad for the Kidsgrove game.
“We are not in the Last Chance Saloon just yet and will be looking to get something out of the game.
“We have a free weekend coming up and then a tough home game with Warrington Rylands. After that, we have a run of games where we feel we can get something from.”
Kidsgrove have some new faces in their squad as well.
Manager Scott Dundas has added midfielder Ethan Padden from Stalybridge Celtic. He is a former Chesterfield youth player who has also been with Glossop North End and Buxton.
Max McCarthy has joined the Grove on an initial one month’s loan from Stoke City. The 6ft 4ins striker joined City from Congleton in September last year.
