A Carlisle clinic has had more than £10,000-worth of donations for a campaign which helps domestic abuse survivors.
VL Aesthetics ran Regifting Beauty to support the Freedom Project in West Cumbria and Refuge in the south of the country.
The clinic in Kingmoor asked people to donate unwanted toiletries, skincare products, and beauty items at drop-off points last month. These were collected and will be regifted to those people whose domestic situation means they may not have easy access to them.
For the campaign’s second year, it was expanded into a national appeal with VL Aesthetics joined by Dr Medispa in Knightsbridge, London, and Light Touch Clinic in Surrey.
Managing director Vanessa Brown was overwhelmed by the response.
She said: “We managed to fill, in Carlisle alone, over 35 boxes with approximately £10,000-worth of products.
“This is phenomenal and I cannot thank the people of Cumbria enough!
“We had such valuable items too, everything from No5 Chanel perfume, to sanitary items, hair dye, soap and glory gift sets, hand sanitiser, Marc Jacobs perfume to men’s toiletries.
“So thank you so much to everyone who has donated this year.”
Vicky Pike, project manager at the Freedom Project, said the items would go to all victims of domestic abuse, “females, children, young people, anybody that needs it”. Men too, who are also exposed to domestic abuse, will be supported.
She added: “We are absolutely blown away with the amount of boxes we’ve received. It’s just unbelievable how kind people are and it’s going to help our victims so much.
