Carlisle United will be taking on a Leyton Orient side without a manager when they travel south for Saturday’s League Two clash.
The O’s have announced after last night’s 2-0 home defeat by Bristol Rovers that they have parted company with boss Kenny Jackett.
The club, who have been plunging down the Division Two table, said that Jackett had left with immediate effect.
A statement went on: “Assistant Manager Joe Gallen, who joined the club with Kenny Jackett in the summer, will also depart his role.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to Kenny and Joe and wish them all the best for the future.
“Further details regarding who will take temporary control of first-team affairs will be communicated in due course.”
It’s a remarkable stat that seven of the bottom eight clubs now don’t have the manager they started the season with. The one exception is Mark Cooper at Barrow.
Orient are 18th on 33 points, five more than Carlisle from a game less but they have tumbled down the table in dramatic fashion.
Indeed both Carlisle and Orient have only one point each from the last six games to sit 24th and 23rd respectively in the form table. Carlisle have a worse goal difference – minus 11 against the O’s minus 8.
Something might have to give on Saturday!
