Cumbria Crack proudly unveils, for the first time, black and white photographs from the county’s sporting past in glorious technicolour.
An avid reader of Crack Crack has brought these treasured photos bang up to date.
The first reaction to a picture from the 1931/32 season, now in revealing colour, was simply WOW.
Pictured below is the Harrington team and officials who won the County’s Lonsdale Cup 90 years ago and never before seen in colour.
We are not able to name individuals on this one but perhaps some of our readers had relatives who were part of the successful club at the time and can provide an identity or two.

However we are able to put names to the old photo from 1965 which shows the Steelworks No 2 Mill team which travelled to Sheffield and won the Interdepartmental Cup 2-1 with goals from Bobby Bell and Bob Richardson.

Bob, incidentally a useful footballer and cricketer, is approaching 80 but today was on his way to Wythop Fell for a walk – despite the blustery weather.
The line-up shown is as follows: Back row, left to right: George McGarry, Frsnk Martin, Bill Marsh, Bobby Bell, Barry Boardman, John Morley, Alan White, Bob Richardson, Billy Torley, Frank Field.
Front row: Jeff (Tanner) Richardson, ‘Tishy’ Dixon, Percy Chambers (Steelworks manager), Kenny Wallace and Alan Cross.

The third picture is of the Steels team which played in the Derwent Valley League in 1964 and the line-up is: Back row, left to right: David Wallace, George Robertson, Wilf Branney, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Harold Glaister, Michael Chapman, Alan Cross, Frank Field (manager).
Front row: Ian Blackmore, Gordon McCullough, Ted Kilgour, Ian Armstrong, Stan Davidson.
