Whitehaven coach Jonty Gorley has named an unchanged squad of 21 for the Challenge Cup-tie at Doncaster tomorrow.
Three injury absentees – James Newton, Glenn Riley and Kieran Hudson – remain on the recovery list following injuries or minor operations.
Gorley is expecting a big improvement from his side after last week’s 40-24 defeat at Newcastle Thunder.
Gorley said: “We had a good opening 20 minutes but it was very poor after that. Not completing sets gave us far too much defending to do and it told on us in the second-half.
“I spent more time on the video review with the players this week trying to work out where we are going wrong and how to put it right.
“To be fair the lads put in a very good session afterwards and they all know that Saturday wasn’t good enough and we need to improve.”
Gorley doesn’t expect an easy ride in the Cup against a Doncaster side who have some genuine experience in their ranks and a shrewd coach in Richard Horne.
“I know they’ve got past amateur opposition to get thids far but they also played Castleford in a warm-up game.
“Now Castleford weren’t at full strength but they had a good side out and Doncaster caused them problems.
“We should have the edge in fitness, having had four hard League games under our belts and although I expect a strong challenge I believe we have enough to get through.
“We have only played in flashes so far but I think once the penny drops with this squad we will be fine and will start to win our League games,” he said.
The squad is: Aiye, Bishop, Bradley, Bulman, Cooper, Dawson, Dixon, Doyle, Eccleston, Evans, Graham, Holliday, King, Martin, McAvoy, Moore, Phillips, Taylor, Walker, Wilkinson, Williams.
