Two young motorists have been handed interim bans while they await sentencing for dangerous driving following an incident on roads in and around Carlisle.
At the city’s crown court earlier today, 23-year-old Thomas Bright pleaded guilty to one offence which occurred on November 29 2019.
Bright admitted driving a Vauxhall Corsa dangerously on Stanwix Bank, Kingstown Broadway, Eden Bridge, Georgian Way, St Nicholas Bridges and Victoria Place in Carlisle; and also, outside the city, at Cargo straight and on the A689.
Sitting next to Bright in the court dock was 23-year-old Nathan Addis. His case had been committed from Carlisle magistrates’ court where, at a previous hearing, he admitted driving a Skoda Fabia dangerously on a number of roads: Hardwicke Circus roundabout, Eden Bridge, Brampton Road, Cargo, Brampton Old Road and the A689.
The charges admitted by both men are said to stem from the same incident.
Recorder Tony Hawks adjourned the case and both men were granted bail ahead of their sentencing hearing. This will take place at the crown court later this year.
In the meantime, Bright, of Moorhouse Road, and Addis, of Levens Drive, both Carlisle, have been made subject to interim driving bans.
Disqualifications are mandatory for offences of dangerous driving, and the length of ban to be served by each defendant will be fixed as part of the sentencing exercise.
