New Barrow manager Phil Brown has had his first positive fan’s reaction as he heads into only his second game in charge.
Brown made a surprise visit to a keen club supporter to make it an extra special Mother’s Day.
He arrived on her doorstep to personally present a special gift from the Barrow club.
For the second year, the Bluebirds ran a campaign allowing supporters to tell them why their mums deserved an extra special Mother’s Day this year and like 2021 they were inundated with entries.
Among the best of the nominations was Nathan Garnett’s for his mum, Nicola – so that was the one the club decided the new boss should call on her to hand over a hamper of hamper of luxury candles.
“It was brilliant seeing the look on her face when she opened the door,” said Brown.
“I’ve said since I arrived at the club that I want to help us really connect with the local community and this was just another way of doing that.
“I enjoyed meeting Nicola and the family and hopefully we helped give her a Mother’s Day to remember.”
Now Brown wants the fans to have a day to remember on Saturday when the Bluebirds host promotion chasing Port Vale in a League Two clash vital to both clubs.
Barrow are fourth bottom only three points clear of the drop zone, made even tighter last night by Oldham’s 2-0 win over Leyton Orient.
Port Vale have climbed to fourth within sight of the automatic promotion places, and at the moment, with the best goal difference in the League apart from leaders Forest Green.
