Wordsworth Grasmere has been shortlisted among the best in the world.
The attraction offers visitors the chance to be inspired by the words of William and Dorothy Wordsworth in the very place they were written.
Wordsworth Grasmere has been shortlisted in the Permanent Exhibition of the Year category of the Museums & Heritage Awards.
Known as the Oscars of the museum world, the awards celebrate the very best in the world of museums, galleries, cultural and heritage visitor attractions.
Wordsworth Grasmere re-opened in 2021 after a multi-million-pound transformation.
Michael McGregor, the Director at Wordsworth Grasmere, said: “To have been shortlisted for a Museums & Heritage Award is a tremendous achievement. We are delighted that the judges have recognised the potential of what has been created here.
“We also hope that this national recognition will be a shot in the arm for Cumbria as a whole, as its visitor economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Wordsworth Grasmere was created with the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other funders. The overall winners of the Museums & Heritage Awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 11.
