A Cumbrian hospice is partnering with the popular outdoor event Gelt Gladiator.

Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice have been chosen as Gelt Gladiator’s official charity partner for the next two years.

The seventh edition of Gelt Gladiator takes place near Walton, north of Brampton, on June 11 and 12.

The charity, which provides care and support for adults from across north Cumbria and young people from all corners of the county, will benefit from the funds raised at the event and through participant sponsorship this year and in 2023.

As part of this partnership, the hospice has kindly been gifted places for those who wish to take part and fundraise for the charity as part of their challenge. All the hospice asks is that participants agree to raise a minimum of £50 for the charity, to guarantee a place at Cumbria’s largest mass participation sporting event as part of Team EVH/Jigsaw.

Gelt Gladiator offers four events over two days for all ages and levels of ability. Over 15,000 mud runners have taken part in the event since it began in 2015.

Mike James, organiser of Gelt Gladiator, said: “We are delighted to support Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw and hope that many existing teams, as well as future individuals and teams, will raise for this amazing cause.

“I believe that everyone in Cumbria is touched by the work that the hospice does and this is your chance as a participant to help fundraise for them. I am excited to see just how much the GG family can raise for this incredible charity.”

Eleanor Viney, Fundraising Manager at the hospice, said: “We are really excited to announce this new partnership with Gelt Gladiator and want to thank the organisers for choosing us as their first-ever charity partner. The hospice needs to raise around £3m each year to be able to continue offering compassionate care, love and support to local families with fundraising events of this kind playing a really important role in securing our future.

“We can’t wait to be part of the action over the weekend and want to thank everyone who will be taking part and supporting Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw.”

Events with places available as part of Team EVH/Jigsaw include the Gelt Gladiator 10-mile course, a 10km course, a 6km course and a junior 3km course.
