Four hundred chocolate eggs were donated as part of an Easter gifting campaign in Kendal.
Home care company, Home Instead South Lakes, held their second Be an Easter Bunny to a Someone initiative along with Morrisons in Kendal, asking the local community to donate chocolate eggs to people across the area this Easter.
The aim of the campaign was to spread as much cheer as possible within the local community, donating eggs to groups and organisations that help isolated and vulnerable people.
Community champion at Morrison’s, Kirsty Ireland, said: “It is such a wonderful campaign that our customers have been excited to get involved with. The impacts of the pandemic are still having an effect on our society, with many being affected by ongoing anxiety and health scares, so it’s great to see our local community come together and remind people we are thinking of them.”
The 400 donated eggs were then distributed to people throughout the community, including to the following groups and organisations: King’s Food Bank, Manna House, Gilling Reane Care Home, Riverside Care Home, Appletree children’s home, community district nurses, Impact Housing, Sandylands Seniors and Church Friendship group, the Lunch Bunch group, With Singing in Mind group and a local Parkinson’s and dementia group.
Rachel Sanders, recruitment and retention manager at Home Instead, said: “We have been overwhelmed with the response to our Easter campaign – even throughout the current cost of living crisis, members of our local community have been very generous to help those in need. So many eggs were donated, all of which have brought so many smiles to the faces of people throughout our community!
“We wanted to remind our community that we are still thinking about them and that there are always people and groups out there to speak to – no one should have to suffer from isolation. We couldn’t be prouder of our community who donated in force! A huge thank you to everyone who donated.”
