Former Carlisle United youth player Danny Hodgson has kicked a football for the first time since he was put into an induced coma.
Danny was left with severe brain injuries after an unprovoked attack in Australia in September last year and was put in an induced coma by doctors in Perth.
He also underwent emergency surgery after the attack.
His attacker, a youth who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed for three years and eight months, ABC News reported last month.
Danny’s mum Nicola posted the below video on Facebook with the caption: “Today’s physio is……. football!!! This lad will not let anything hold him back. One great physio team Jessica Louise Pollock, dad and Abby Hodgson. #DH7 #rehabilitationathome #myboy”
Danny has plied his trade as a striker in both England and Australia, playing for Windscale and Cleator Moor Celtic football clubs as a youngster before moving to Carlisle in his teens to play for The Blues.
He moved to Australia when he was 18 to continue his football career.
