Hundreds of people attended Max’s memorial walk.

A fundraiser in memory of Max the Miracle Dog has raised more than £27,000.

Keswick turned orange for Max on Sunday, as hundreds came together to remember the springer spaniel who gained an international following thanks to his adventures captured on social media by his owner Kerry Irving.

Earlier this month it was confirmed the 14-year-old dog had died after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The popular dog supported more than 10,000 people through meet-and-greets, charity walks, appearances and school visits in his fundraising efforts. He was awarded the animal equivalent of an OBE and raised more than £370,000 for charities and supported people through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Posting about the event on Sunday, Kerry posted on the Max out in the Lake District Facebook page: “The day Keswick turned orange for the springer spaniel with the big brown eyes, huge heart and non-stop wagging tail. Max.

“The world’s most loved dog. Total raised £27,584.00. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. You are all truly amazing.”

The fundraiser is for the Hope Park Charitable Trust and the upkeep of Max’s statue in Keswick.
