Paul Simpson is poised to stay with Carlisle United with a deal set to be agreed within the next few days.
There has been much speculation as to whether the 55-year-old Simpson would stay to further the work he has done so far since returning to the club and saving them from relegation,
Although there is nothing signed, Cumbria Crack understands that an agreement is close to being confirmed.
A source has told us that Carlisle-born Simpson has enjoyed his time back in his native city and it’s not about money – more the fact that he wants to be a success in the role.
To that end, he has had a series of meetings with the Carlisle board setting out his vision for how the club should be run if he was to stay in charge.
Simpson returned to Brunton Park in February after the sacking of Keith Millen when the team was lying next to bottom of League Two and relegation loomed.
But he put together a winning run which quickly carried Carlisle up the table, and although results have dropped away in the last month, they have been safe for a while.
Fans have been clamouring for him to stay and news that he is close to an agreement to do just that will be rapturously received.
