Cumbria play their final National T20 Championship game at Carlisle on Sunday but can’t qualify for the knockout stages.
Two defeats at Cheshire on Monday, along with a rain-off at Netherfield on Sunday, left Cumbria unable to make progress from their group.
They conclude their fixtures at Edenside against Staffordshire who are vying with Cheshire for the qualification place.
Cumbria will give a debut to Sam Medhurst, a 20-year-old seam bowler who had originally been selected for Sunday’s game with Shropshire on his home ground of Netherfield but it was washed out.
Medhurst has come through the age-group ranks with Cumbria to earn his chance with the seniors, who had started the season with two wins over Northumberland.
Another bright prospect, 17-year-old off-spinner Josh Stirling, who is already being guided and coached by Lancashire, will start the game.
The team is Gary Pratt, Sam Dutton, Michael Slack, Nathan Waterston, Matthew Sempill, Paul Hindmarch, Drew Postlethwaite, Sam Medhurst, Nico Watt, Brodie Glendinning, Josh Stirling.
Next up for Cumbria will be the National County Cricket Trophy (50 overs) when they are in Group One with games as follows:
- Sunday 29 May v Lincolnshire at Scunthorpe Town CC.
- Sunday 5 June v Herefordshire at Cockermouth CC.
- Sunday 12 June v Oxfordshire at Banbury CC.
- Sunday 26 June v Northumberland at Keswick CC.
- Quarter-final: Sunday 17 July (top two in each group qualify).
The season concludes with the National County Cricket Championship (Eastern Division 2)
