Channel racing into Cumbria has suffered another setback with plans abandoned to race two of the four programmed tests from France.
That leaves two other races from France still possibilities and a decision on those is expected later this month.
A Cumbria Combine statement said today: “Due to ongoing difficulties with the registration process for racing from France, the Combine officials have agreed that we will race from Guernsey on June 4 and June 18.
“We are still hoping that two channel races will be possible in July.”
The Cumbrian birds should have raced from Carentan on June 4 and from Fougeres on June 18.
The two dates in July set aside for French racing are July 2 from Messac and from Nort Sur Erdre on July 16.
The last time Cumbrian fancers had the opportunity to test themselves from channel racing was in July, 2019 from Messac.
There is also a late change to the final inland racepoint on June 25, a new liberation site to Cumbria fanciers at Lyndhurst has been changed to Holmsley.
Lyndhurst is a village in the New Forest, Hampshire while Holmsley is eight miles away near a famous old race-point, Lymington.
Meanwhile the West Cumbria Amalgamation birds racing from Lymm today were liberated at 9.20am in a light west north west wind.
