Rarely seen documents from Tudor times will be on display as part of a platinum jubilee celebration at a Cumbrian archive centre.
Whitehaven Archive Centre, on Scotch Street, will display the documents from the time of Henry VIII and Elizabeth 1, plus others from during the reigns of Queen Victoria, Edward VII and Charles II on Friday, June 10.
More contemporary items marking visits to this area by the Queen and others of her immediate family will also be on display, including visits from the Queen Mother and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Tea and cake and a royal themed quiz will round off the afternoon event.
Senior archivist Robert Baxter said: “We have some remarkable items in our archive which people very rarely see, so it will be a great opportunity.”
The event is free to attend and there is plenty of parking. Doors open at 2pm.
