An engineering company is preparing to throw open its doors to showcase its groundbreaking work.

Globally renowned firm Forth will host its inaugural Engineering Open Day at its headquarters in Risehow Hydraulic Centre, Flimby, Cumbria, on Thursday, June 9.

It will give businesses the opportunity to see the world first engineering solutions it develops for the nuclear, oil and gas, renewables and manufacturing industries.

As part of the event, attendees will be able to view the latest innovations and projects the company is working on, such as a remotely-operated rescue robot to help with disaster recovery in hazardous industrial environments and A2I2 – an underwater robot which is used to clean up nuclear waste.

Engineers and project managers will be on hand to talk through the projects in detail and answer any questions. In addition, there are a number of tech talks, demonstrations and tours of the workshops scheduled throughout the day.

Managing director Mark Telford said: “We sometimes take for granted the amazing work we carry out within the company as it is all in a day’s work for our team.

“But I am constantly in awe of the groundbreaking innovations, and the new ways of thinking, which come from the team across the company, and we think it would be a great idea to share these with fellow businesses who also make a big difference to the industry to allow them to get a taste of the work we are capable of here.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to lift the covers and see what goes on here, and a chance to ask questions of our exceptional team that they might not get an opportunity to otherwise. It’s about inspiring and educating people about the opportunities which exist, and we’re very excited to showcase the pioneering projects our engineers and project managers develop.”

Forth is offering all attending businesses a free engineering problem solving service in which its experts will arrange a no obligation solution meeting to any problem statement presented on the day.

From there, the team will provide the businesses with options on how to solve the problem.

Mark said: “We have seen first hand the power of businesses collaborating, and we are encouraging more firms to come forward and present us with problems so we can work together to find a cost effective and working solution.”

Forth’s Engineering Open Day is free but people must register their interest via https://forthopenday.eventbrite.co.uk.

The event, at the company’s Flimby headquarters, will be held between 10am and 3pm on Thursday, June 9.
