The Coffee Lounge in Keswick

A Lake District cafe has been sold to a local entrepreneur after it went on the market for £79,950.

The leasehold of The Coffee Lounge in Bell Close, Keswick, has been sold to Debbie Burrows, who runs the Lake Road Inn in the town.

The cafe, sold via Colliers, was put on the market by Peter Powell, who is retiring from hospitality to pursue another career. He bought the cafe in 2015.

The coffee shop seats 30 inside and 30 outside.

Debbie said: “I am excited to get stuck into this next chapter as the new owner at The Coffee Lounge. I have lots of great ideas and I’m currently planning a refurbishment to happen by the end of the season.

“This is a wonderful addition to my growing portfolio in the Lake District and I am really looking forward to welcoming you all in when we open for business.”

Haydn Spedding, of Colliers’ Manchester office, said: “The Coffee Lounge is situated perfectly in a busy tourist town, which gains a good level of trade throughout the year. This is one of many hospitality-based businesses we have sold recently, Cumbria and the Lake District is proving to be a very popular choice for investors.

“The pattern of trade has broadly followed despite the challenges of the pandemic and Brexit, therefore we are expecting the steady flow of buyers to continue.”
